Welcome to my 1st College Year from attending AHRC NYC's Melissa Riggio Higher Education Program.
Fall Semester (2019)
My 1st College Year in the Melissa Riggio Higher Education Program has started out within the Fall Semester (which started in September 2019). The chosen classes on my fall semester schedule were The Art of 3D Animation (Art 4800), Radio & TV Announcement (MCB 3600), & Walk, Jog, & Run (PEC 200). It was originally because I took too much time in choosing my classes that mentors needed to take care of it for me but I was happy for the PEC 200 class that I've managed to choose at the last second. I've enjoyed the good exercise of PEC 200, which means I've started off with a good beginning in that class. MCB 3600 was a nice class in learning good stuff to say in a Radio or TV station. Art 4800 was very complicated but with some help from mentors, I've managed to have done some 3D animation work on a computer in class. It took a while for me to get used to the struggles & hard work of my classes (which is part of the college life) but I managed to have gotten used to it especially since I was still new to the Melissa Riggio Higher Education Program at that time.
Winter Semester (2019)
During the Winter Semester (which started in December 2019), I've learned how our program don't attend KCC classes during winter semesters under our college program's rules. What we can do was attend our AHRC classes & my chosen classes were Budgeting, Writing, Computer, Relationships, Sex Ed, Escape, & Positivity. I went over some tough math work during Budgeting class but I managed to have done okay. You can guess that I've done a lot of writing in my classwork & homework during Writing class. I've enjoyed the typing work on typing.com for Computer class which might have given me a little exercise in my typing. From what I've learned about my typing in Computer class, if I use the proper fingers for the proper letters on a keyboard then I'll be typing a little slow from not memorizing the proper way to type just yet since I still can't take my eyes off the keyboard when I'm typing. Even though I've done a little work on Social Relationships (for my own project), I think a little more learning about trust during Relationships class was very helpful since we all know if someone breaks a trust in a relationship then that can cause some very bad problems. At first, I wasn't very happy with attending Sex Ed & Escape classes due to both being involved with Romance but I know I needed to do my work for graduating so it took some getting used to. I did learn a little about how a romance relationship should start out during Sex Ed class which involves romance hints like flirting, approaching, talking, & dating. During Escape class, I've learned about the dangers of abuse like physical, emotional, & the worst kind of all known as SEXUAL ABUSE. I guess I can say during Positivity class, I've learned a little about having a positive feeling in yourself to make sure you'll be a very kind person to everyone around you in your life.
Spring Semester (2020 = Remote College Year)
During the Spring Semester (which started in March 2020), I had only 2 classes on my Spring Semester schedule which were Drama (ENG 4300) & Body Building (PEC 500). In my PEC 500 class, I had some difficulty with the warm-ups but it took me a while to get used to them + our class did get to use exercise equipment for several minutes which I liked. In my ENG 4300 class, our class viewed what our professor was showing us on a screen & I think he also shown us some lines from plays which led to our class doing a little acting by a few of us reading some of those lines. We were gonna do an assignment involving reading a few books (slowly one at a time) & doing a lot of writing when the Coronavirus (COVID-19) began to take over the world & ruining all of life that the world's population used to have (& made us all go Remote!).
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, my Spring Semester classes were completely cancelled as my campus began to close down for a long time. Since then, I haven't stepped off the block where my home is (for over 5 months) but my college program wishes to continue so we started attending classes via Zoom. Even though I'll miss my freedom, I had to proceed with my quarantined college program in our Spring Semester & I've chosen new remote classes for it. My classes for my remote Spring Semester schedule were Personal Exploration, Men's Group, Self-Discovery, Show & Tell, Film & Critique, Relationships, Exercise, Dance, Karaoke, & Personal Project (an assigned mentor helps me with my project). From what I remotely experienced, I didn't really enjoy most of my classes much but since it's a new part of life, I had to get used to what my college life was like due to COVID-19.
Summer Semester (2020 = Remote College Year)
During the Summer Semester (which started around July 2020), I've had many classes on my Summer Semester schedule which were Computers, Acting & Improv, Budgeting, Life Skills, Music, Exercise & Nutrition, Job Readiness, Personal Project (with Frank Laskowitz), Computer Coding, How to be a YouTuber, Stress Management, Show & Tell, & Karaoke. I'm very crestfallen that my summer semester in my 1st college year ended up being a full quarantined semester at my home & all my classes were attended via Zoom. Even though I didn't get to enjoy the semester at the campus, I have to admit that I've enjoyed my summer classes & the rest of my 1st College Year with my college program via Zoom, even though I wasn't with them in-person.
