PS09: Michael's 3rd Gym Battle!

PS09: Michael's 3rd Gym Battle!

3rd Gym Mission has been cleared!

PS09's Documented "Plot"

The next morning, Michael met back with Marnie, who informed him about Hop already going on ahead to Motostoke Stadium. As both Gym Challengers wished each other luck for their gym battles, Michael departed to Motostoke Stadium (while passing by a few fans that recognized him) where he found Hop who just managed to win his gym battle against Kabu, which Michael was happy to hear about.

After entering Motostoke Stadium, Michael recalled what occurred with Toxel during the 2nd Gym Battle while at the same time, pondered on how tough his 3rd Gym Battle might be. So Michael gave into using his Pokemon Storage System for the 1st time, which led to Toxel being stored into a Pokemon Box until after the 3rd Gym Battle.

Changed into his Gym Uniform, the young Gym Challenger started his Gym Mission, which apparently was different than other Gym Missions he experienced. From what Dan described about the mission, Michael got fascinated on new ways that he'll need to experience to earn 5 points. First, Michael earned 3 points by having Drizzile defeat 3 kinds of wild Fire-Type Pokemon (while kept in mind of what the Gym Trainers might do). Then for the last 2 points, Michael had Slowpoke aid him in catching a Fire-Type Pokemon, which was chosen to be a Litwick.

With the Gym Mission cleared, Michael stepped onto the battlefield alongside with Gym Leader Kabu + with a whole crowd watching (including Hop).

The Gym Battle began with Michael's Drizzile managing to defeat Kabu's Ninetales despite getting burned by its Will-O-Wisp move. Michael had Drizzile switched out for Slowpoke & (their new friend) Litwick to battle Kabu's Arcanine before they both got defeated by their opponent but those 2 still dealt enough damage for Drizzile to land a finishing Sucker Punch move on Arcanine. With both sides down to 1 Pokemon each, Michael brings out Dynamax Drizzile while Kabu brings out his ace, Gigantamax Centiskorch (with the former being amazed to see a Gigantamax Pokemon up-close for the 1st time). At the end, Dynamax Drizzile emerged victorious, which gave Michael the win.

The young Gym Challenger earned his 3rd Gym Badge, the Fire Badge.

Afterwards Michael gave his thanks to Kabu for his 3rd Gym Battle, which also gave him a new Fire-Type Pokemon friend.

After Michael met back with Hop (who praised his friend/rival on his win), Dan arrived to congratulate Michael for earning the Gym Badges from the 1st 3 Gyms (Grass, Water, & Fire). Dan explained to Michael & Hop that their next step is to reach Hammerlocke by going through the Wild Area, which they both understood.

Michael received some praise from other Gym Challengers then as he & Hop were ready to depart, Kabu arrived (followed by Milo & Nessa). The 3 Gym Leaders wanted to see the 2 young Gym Challengers off (since they're now among a few Gym Challengers who've managed to win against Kabu). After giving thanks to those Gym Leaders for their support (& Kabu's chant), the 2 young Gym Challengers arrived back in the Wild Area where Hop showed Michael a bridge close by, as the path to get to Hammerlocke.

Bede apparently shown up & was scoffing at Hop who didn't like what was hearing. Which led to Bede challenging Hop to a battle in another part of the Wild Area & the challenge was accepted + Hop was already aware of Bede losing to Michael back in Galar Mine No. 2 (during PS08). Bede went on ahead & Hop let Michael know they'll meet up in Hammerlocke later as the 2 friends/rivals departed from each other.

While Michael would like for Hop to win, he did get a little frustrated about Bede so he'll keep in mind about not wanting to lose to a Gym Challenger like him. Michael decides to camp out in the Wild Area for a while before eventually make preparations to head for his next destination, Hammerlocke.
