Michael’s “Poke Problem”: Which is the Totem Pokemon that Michael faces at Wela Volcano Park? Choices: Salazzle, Alolan Marowak, Charizard, Magmar (Answer Revealed Below) (Exp. Share: Off then turned back On)
UM15's Documentation ("Plot")
Michael sets off to train on Route 7 to prepare for the trial at Wela Volcano Park. Michael decided to turn off his Exp. Share for a little while so his Rockruff can train to go up one level by itself. Michael began training at a fishing spot to search for Water-Type opponents. The first Pokemon Michael fished up was a Wishiwashi but after Rockruff was sent out to face it for its training, Wishiwashi changed its form which according to Rotom Dex that Wishiwashi’s ability allowed it to form a school resulting in becoming its school form. During its training battle, Rockruff took a powerful super-effective Brine from its opponent but it managed to toughen it out to hold on which was definitely a relief for Michael. After Rockruff managed to strike a large number of Bite attacks (even though its opponent did use Aqua Ring), Wishiwashi’s school form went down and although it called another Wishiwashi as an ally to help out, Rockruff took them both down with its Bite attack, which all resulted in some good yet tough training. After fishing up a few more Water-Type Pokemon for Rockruff’s training, not only Rockruff managed to earn enough Exp. Points to level up but it also learned a new move. With Rockruff up one level + learning a new move, Michael turned his Exp. Share back on to get back to training his whole team. Setting off into the water by the Lapras Paddle (via Ride Pager), Michael defeated a trainer’s Basculin and Psyduck by battling with Cha (Michael’s Hawlucha), which resulted in a certain newly-hatched Eevee earning much Exp. Points to level up a lot.
Finding another fishing spot, then 2 wild Alolan Digett, and another fishing spot resulted in earning much Exp. Points for Michael’s team. Michael and Cha defeating an Alomomola trainer then a Surskit trainer (+ finding another fishing spot to train) also resulted in earning a little more Exp. Points for Michael’s team.
A small stop on a mini-island led to Michael finding another fishing spot to train his team (which includes defeating a Shellder trainer with Trumbeak) + Michael remembered fishing up a few valuables earlier, which he’ll sell later at a PokeMart. Michael arrived at Wela Volcano Park where he plans to finish up with training before heading up to his next trial. After collecting a Totem Sticker thanks to the Tauros Charge (via Ride Pager), Michael and his Torracat managed to defeat a Kantonian Meowth trainer. As a result from so much training at Wela Volcano Park, Michael’s team have earned much Exp. Points to level up so well together + Cha got to learn a new move while Eevee got to learn a few new moves. It was a surprise but Michael saw that Rockruff was giving off a sign of evolution which had gotten Michael excited at first but then he remembered something from “Trainer Tips” (back in Royal Avenue) about an “Evolution Cancel”, which also got him thinking that Rockruff should get a chance to face the trial a little before evolving. So an “Evolution Cancel” was performed and Michael informed Rockruff that he’ll have a feeling that its evolution can happen during their upcoming trial, which has gotten them both in excitement. Michael arrives at the top of the volcano and a trial guide was kind enough to recover his team as he then stepped into the trial site where he met with the game counterpart of Kiawe. After receiving the details from Kiawe’s game counterpart, Michael was all set with his team as the Trial of Kiawe began. After figuring out the difference in the first dance, Michael’s first opponent was an Alolan Marowak, which he managed to defeat with Rockruff. Next, Michael figured out the difference in the second dance, which gave him his next opponent to face, a Hiker with a Magmar. After Michael and Rockruff defeated the Hiker's Magmar, Rockruff managed to earn enough Exp. Points to level up, which means (as it was expected to happen) its evolution happened as Rockruff became a Midnight Form Lycanroc, along with learning its signature move, Counter. Michael took a quick pause to check out Lycanroc’s data through Rotom Dex + caring for it in a Pokemon Refresh activity. Michael really likes how his Rockruff is now fully-evolved as it became a very interesting form of a Pokemon + it all happened during their trial which also left Michael very happy. After the quick pause was done, Michael must now focus on the final dance which he managed to figure out the difference in, showing him the Totem Pokemon that he must face in the trial, an Alolan Marowak. Michael sent out his newly-evolved Lycanroc to face Totem Marowak who soon called an ally for help, a Salazzle. Even though Lycanroc managed to inflict massive damage to Totem Marowak, it eventually got defeated by the Totem Pokemon’s ally, which left Michael a little sad for its newly-evolved Pokemon Friend but he’ll make sure Lycanroc’s efforts won’t go to waste. Next, Michael sent out his partner Torracat who managed to defeat Totem Marowak with a not-very-effective Fire Fang (thanks to Lycanroc’s hard work in damaging the Totem Pokemon). After struggling with Salazzle, Michael and Torracat unleashed their Fighting-Type Z-Move: All-Out Pummeling, which resulted in Salazzle’s defeat and winning the battle. After caring for Torracat in a quick Pokemon Refresh activity, Kiawe’s game counterpart congratulated Michael for clearing the trial and gave him a Fire-Type Z-Crystal, Firium Z, which Michael is very happy to have received for his partner Torracat.
Kiawe’s game counterpart showed Michael the Fire-Type Z-Move pose, gave him 10 Quick Balls, and even registered a Sky Ride Pokemon (Charizard) to his Ride Pager as Michael shall look forward to glide through the air with Charizard to revisit a few places that he’s already been to as the young trial-goer gave thanks to Kiawe’s game counterpart then departed. Heading back down the volcano, Michael and his newly-defeated Lycanroc defeated an ace trainer’s Noibat and Kadabra. Michael then took a lucky photo of a passing Talonflame, which gave him a new high record in photo-taking with his Poke Finder. After defeating a Hiker’s Roggenrola by battling with Cha, Michael headed back into Royal Avenue where he purchased a Malasada for his Eevee to enjoy then told the same young boy in need of courage (that he met before) about clearing the Trial of Kiawe, which gave him a little more encouragement. Arriving back to Royal Avenue’s Pokemon Center where he sold his valuables at the PokeMart then relaxed at the Pokemon Center Cafe, Michael shown his newly-evolved Lycanroc to the rest of his team then shown his partner Torracat their newly-earned Firium Z, which has them both excited to master the Fire-Type Z-Move.
Michael now knows his next trial is Mallow’s game counterpart’s, which he’ll be looking forward to clearing with his Pokemon Friends.
