The Alola Region

Michael’s “Poke Problem”: Which Totem-sized Pokemon did Michael receive from Samson Oak’s game counterpart? Choices: Araquanid, Alolan Marowak, Lurantis, Alolan Raticate (Answer Revealed Below) (Exp. Share: On)

UM18's Documentation ("Plot")

After collecting a few berries then doing a little fishing to train his team (with the Exp. Share turned back on), Michael went to visit the Alolan Vulpix once again where the foundation worker explained that Vulpix was doing much better that it was time to take it back to a white snowy mountain that Vulpix loves so much.

Michael can see that he managed to help Vulpix enough for it to be escorted to a loving home but Vulpix somehow had a sad look on its face like it was sad to say goodbye to Michael after what he has done for it. Michael said to Vulpix that he’ll see it again, which made Vulpix a little happy as it jumped into Michael’s arms and snuggled with him to its heart’s content, which made both Michael and Vulpix so happy.

The foundation worker informs Michael that she’ll look after Vulpix at the snowy mountain until it’s able to defend itself and she asked Michael to visit them sometimes, which he understood as Vulpix was departed to a new home and Michael departed back onto his journey. On his way to the Dimensional Research Lab, Michael arrived at a path on Route 5 where he defeated 2 wild Alolan Diglett with Torracat, which led to Toucannon gaining enough Exp. Points to level up. Michael and his Torracat managed to defeat a young Charabug trainer, which led to Torracat gaining enough Exp. Points to level up. Defeating a trainer’s Goomy and Sylveon with Eevee and Lycanroc led to both of them gaining enough Exp. Points to level up. Michael and his Toucannon defeated a trainer’s Makuhita and Mudbray then Michael and Cha (Michael’s Hawlucha) defeated a wild Alolan Diglett. Hopping over a ledge led to Michael getting back on the same path of Route 5 that he had been to before (during UM12), which allowed him to head straight for Route 6. Heading through Paniola Ranch, the same Miltank from the Pokemon Nursery helped recover Michael’s team once again. Michael then noticed Hau’s game counterpart catching up with him and he revealed to have cleared Mallow’s game counterpart’s trial and even tried out the Super Mallow Special, which he had enjoyed as Michael congratulated him for clearing that trial, Hau’s game counterpart then departed before mentioning that he’ll meet up with Michael at the Dimensional Research Lab. Heading down Route 6, Michael read “Trainer Tips” about Pokemon growing friendlier with their trainers from the longer they’ve travel together + reading how some Pokemon evolve when they grow friendlier toward their trainers, which has Michael thinking about his newly-evolved Midnight Form Lycanroc and his Eevee who’s been going through “evolution cancels” from Michael since he’s not sure about evolving Eevee since there were many Eeveelutions to choose from. Arriving back into Heahea City, Michael arrived at the Dimensional Research Lab where he saw Nebby and Lillie’s game counterpart. From what Michael is seeing, Lillie’s game counterpart was giving Nebby a command to use a move then mentioned she was acting like Michael when he’s battling with his Pokemon. Michael can see that Lillie’s game counterpart has always been sad from seeing Nebby getting hurt (which made her feel like she was the one getting hurt) and that if only she was as strong as Hau’s game counterpart and Michael then things would be different (which Michael definitely can agree with).

Nebby and Lillie’s game counterpart noticed Michael who greeted them as Lillie’s game counterpart informs him that Professor Kukui’s game counterpart is waiting for him in the lab which Michael was aware of. Lillie’s game counterpart reveals that she knows about Michael clearing all 3 of Akala trials and asked Michael how he was doing with those trials, which he answered were really tough. Lillie’s game counterpart can understand Michael for how he had to do 3 trials but she’s happy for him managing to have cleared them. As Nebby and Lillie’s game counterpart arrived into the lab, Michael arrived also and met up with Professor Kukui’s game counterpart who introduced him to his wife who runs the Dimensional Research Lab, Professor Burnet (her game counterpart). From what the game counterpart of Professor Burnet explained about how she found Nebby and Lillie’s game counterpart unconscious at a beach 3 months ago, Michael started to think about hearing how much the 2 of them had been going through. Everyone noticed Hau’s game counterpart is not with them until he actually arrived then Professor Kukui’s game counterpart reveals that he brought Michael to the lab for explaining to him about the mysterious phenomena in Alola, which Professor Burnet’s game counterpart is sure that her husband is talking about a certain something within the mysteries of Alola, which is revealed to be The Ultra Wormhole.

From what Professor Burnet’s game counterpart had explained to everyone, Michael has gotten very fascinated with a lot that he has learned about the Ultra Wormhole, a different unknown dimension within the Ultra Wormhole, and fearsome Pokemon known as Ultra Beasts that can appear from the Ultra Wormhole.

Not only Michael can understand how Professor Burnet’s game counterpart wishes to uncover much about the Mysteries of Alola but now he’s filled with much curiosity about the region that he moved into from Kanto and he managed to have experienced some mysteries during his own journey, which made him wanna look forward to see what he can uncover while doing his island challenge. Following his Rotom Dex’s suggestion, Michael talked to Lillie’s game counterpart about what occurred with her and Nebby (Cosmog) 3 months ago, which she explained how she got lost while wanting to learn more about Nebby and it led to Professor Burnet’s game counterpart finding her then she had her husband (Professor Kukui’s game counterpart) to let her and Nebby stay with him at his home on Melemele Island while trying to figure out how to help Nebby get back to its own home (with both professors’ game counterparts helping out). It made Lillie’s game counterpart feel that Professor Burnet’s game counterpart has been like a real mother to her, which somehow made Michael feel sorry for her. Michael explains to Lillie’s game counterpart that he’ll have hopes for her to achieve what she needs to do for helping Nebby then he said to Nebby that he’ll have hopes for Nebby to return to its real home safely. After collecting a Totem Sticker and looking around the lab, Michael spoke with Professor Kukui’s game counterpart about their curiosity on what kind of moves that Ultra Beasts can use. Professor Kukui’s game counterpart congratulated Michael again for clearing his 3 Akala trials then reminded him of his upcoming Akala Island grand trial against the game counterpart of Kahuna Olivia. It was time for Michael to depart as Professor Burnet’s game counterpart informs him where he can find Kahuna Olivia’s game counterpart’s house and Lillie’s game counterpart informs Michael that she’ll stay at the lab to continue speaking with Professor Burnet’s game counterpart as Michael informs her and Nebby to stay safe. Just as Michael arrived outside, he saw something strange in the sky which looked like a rift torn open in the sky. Hau’s game counterpart then came outside who also congratulated Michael for clearing the 3 Akala trials and reminded Michael about heading to see Kahuna Olivia’s game counterpart in Konikoni City through Diglett’s Tunnel as he then departed. After collecting a few more Totem Stickers, Michael took a visit inside a building then arrived on a floor where he collected another Totem Sticker after a small visit to a company called “GAME FREAK” (sounds familiar). On another floor, Michael saw a door with a sign that read “Aether Foundation”, which led to Michael pondering about his reading about a foundation in Alola and that small foundation lab back on Route 8. As Michael went through the door, he was a little amazed to see what the foundation room looked like as a foundation employee revealed that Michael is in one of the Aether Foundation’s offices then explained the Aether Foundation’s purpose of wanting to help care and protect Pokemon that have been hurt, which led to Michael pondering about how he helped a foundation worker care for a certain Alolan Vulpix before it was escorted to a nice home. Michael started to feel good to have learned about the Aether Foundation in Alola and he’s even grateful to their purpose since he now knows that he managed to have fulfilled that purpose with the Alolan Vulpix. Another foundation employee had explained about something involving the foundation’s purpose which is doing something about Pokemon that were stored in PC Boxes and have not seen their trainers for a long time. It led to the Aether Foundation taking in those kinds of Pokemon to have relatives care for them or release them back into the wild. Michael then started to ponder about his own PC Box by the time it’s filled with Pokemon Friends as he wouldn’t like imagining how those would be stored in there for a long time without seeing him for a long time but they needed to be cared for by the Aether Foundation until further notice then he might accept that. The foundation employee then reveals about a Pokemon that refuses to be released into the wild and has been cooped up in its PC Box for a long time, which isn’t good for the Pokemon as Michael definitely agrees with that. They needed some help with finding some info about that Pokemon’s trainer, which led to Michael asking to do so since he’d be glad to help out. The foundation employee thanked Michael for his help as she gave him the “Left PokeBall” (which was a little confusing), which has the unknown Pokemon locked inside and shall not come out.

The foundation employee began to wonder if some relationships between Pokemon and trainers might never change even after not seeing each other for a long time, which led to Michael pondering about that as well, especially with him and his own Pokemon Friends.

Michael then received info from the foundation employee about the unknown trainer (who revealed to have passed away) is from Ula’ula island, which according to his Rotom Dex is one of the 4 islands of the Alola Region. Michael then informs the foundation employee that he’ll take care of the task during the time he’s on Ula’ula island since he’d also like to know the truth about the unknown Pokemon within the “Left PokeBall”. After collecting a few more Totem Stickers, Michael decided that he was ready to accept something for his team which led to arriving at Heahea Beach to see the game counterpart of Samson Oak. After a brief talk, Michael had accepted a Totem-sized Pokemon from Samson Oak’s game counterpart, a Totem-sized Alolan Raticate.

As Samson Oak’s game counterpart looks forward to Michael continuing to collect Totem Stickers for his island challenge, Michael reveals that even though he is continuing to collect Totem Stickers, he may not accept any more Totem-sized Pokemon since one may be enough for his team, which Samson Oak’s game counterpart understands but he is gonna be in touch through Michael's Rotom Dex by the time Michael reach certain numbers of collected Totem Stickers, which can lead to many Totem-sized Pokemon available to be accepted from him and he’ll always be waiting for Michael in case he changes his mind, which Michael understands. At Heahea City’s Pokemon Center, Michael welcomed his Totem-sized Alolan Raticate onto his team (even though he was a little astounded by its size) then the new Totem-sized Pokemon friend was cared for in a Pokemon Refresh activity as Michael is looking forward to what else he’ll experience on his journey especially now that he has obtained a full team of 6 Pokemon Friends.
